Stichting RI dissolved as part of efforts to simplify governance structure of the PRI
LONDON, 14 April 2015
The Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and Stichting RI (SRI) today announced the dissolution of Stichting RI, the independent charitable foundation that was established in The Netherlands in 2012 to attract grants from foundations and other organisations in support of the PRI’s mission.
As part of moves to simplify the PRI’s governance structure, the PRI Advisory Council and PRI Association Board agreed at its December 2014 meeting to recommend to the SRI Board that the entity be dissolved. Since 2012, SRI’s fundraising activities have increasingly been assumed by PRI Association, the UK-registered not-for-profit company which hosts the PRI. PRI Association has now established a track record raising grant money and collecting donations in its own name.
SRI’s Directors – Marcel Jeucken (Managing Director of Responsible Investment, PGGM), David Russell (Co-Head of Responsible Investment, USS Investment Management) and Zaiga Strautmane (Head of ESG, Unipension) – were notified of the PRI Advisory Council and Board’s recommendation and, after reviewing the operation of the Stichting, decided to dissolve the entity.
SRI’s funding was used to promote research on responsible investment and deliver the PRI Academic Network conference in Singapore in November 2013. At the date of its dissolution, its minimal remaining funds were transferred to the Foundation for the Global Compact.
